Fall In MO………2009

It started with a winery trip to Herman, MO for “Oktoberfest” in early October. All the wineries in Missouri put on special events for the month of October in celebration of the final grape harvest of the year and the changing of the leaves. In reality it’s a reason for people in Missouri to get wasted (ex. Mardi Gras, St. Patty’s Day, Thanksgiving, Tuesday Night, etc….). Anyway back to the story….We woke up in the morning to the entire town of Herman being covered in a lazy fog cast by the Missouri River. It can be seen in the morning in October and dissipates at exactly 10:30am every day. As we were leaving we crossed the bridge below and I was amazed at how cool it looked. I vowed to return later in the month and snap a photo before the fog was gone for the year. Below are my shots of the bridge and some other fall photos I snapped later in the day. Hwy 94 between Herman, MO and Augusta, MO has some amazing scenery during this time of year, I suggest you make the trip next year.

I listened to this track from Brandy Johnson while editeding these tonight. It reminds me while I love the fall season. She is still one of my favorite singer / songwriters in St. Louis. I ran into her husband Jeff in the airport not too long ago and he told me she wasn’t really writing any new music these days…… .
